Collection: The 4C's of Diamonds

The 4C's of Diamonds: What You Need to Know

Choosing the perfect diamond starts with understanding the 4C's – the universal standard for assessing a diamond’s quality.

1. CUT

  • Why It Matters: Cut is the most important factor in determining a diamond’s brilliance. A well-cut diamond reflects light beautifully, creating that signature sparkle.
  • What to Look For: Ideal or excellent cuts ensure maximum light reflection.

2. COLOR

  • Why It Matters: The less color, the rarer the diamond. Diamonds are graded from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown).
  • What to Look For: D-F (colorless) for a pure, icy look or G-J (near colorless) for great value with minimal visible color.

3. CLARITY

  • Why It Matters: Clarity measures the presence of natural imperfections, known as inclusions. Fewer inclusions mean a more flawless diamond.
  • What to Look For: VVS1-VS2 (very slightly included) offers near-flawless beauty without the high price of flawless diamonds.

4. CARAT

  • Why It Matters: Carat refers to a diamond’s weight, not size. Larger diamonds are rarer, but carat should be balanced with cut, color, and clarity.
  • What to Look For: Choose the carat that fits your style – sometimes a smaller, well-cut diamond can appear larger and brighter.
